eHow Does IPL Work?
IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. Our devices work when light energy from the IPL is absorbed by the melanin in your hairs, which turns into heat and destroys the hair cell/follicle. Over time, with repeated treatments, the hairs grow back less frequently and finer.
Who Is IPL Suitable For?
Everyone! The Posh Skin Co handsets are suitable for all genders.
Do You Have A Money Back Guarantee?
We are so confident in our products, that we offer our customers an incredible 90 day, 100% money back guarantee!
What Warranty Do The Handsets Have?
All PoshSkinCo IPL units come with a 12 month warranty, that covers any manufacturer faults. If you are having issues with your handset, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to help.
Does IPL Hurt?
Using PoshSkinCo IPL machines is a far less painful treatment compared to alternative methods of hair removal. Many customers have shared it feels quite warm on the skin.
Is IPL Suitable For Sensitive Skin?
Our handsets are designed for many skin types (including sensitive skin!). If you are concerned, you can start on a small area on the lowest setting and build up over several treatments.
How Often Can I Use It?
A typical treatment plan involves using the IPL once a week for 12 weeks and after this initial 12 week treatment, using once a month until you are happy with the results.
For ongoing maintenance of your new Posh Skin look, we recommend using the IPL every 2-3 months as needed. Keep in mind that IPL works on the hair when it is growing, so once per week is the maximum that will be effective (no need to do more than once per week).
How Long Before I See Results?
Depending on your skin and hair type, results vary for each person but you will usually notice a reduction of hair after 3-4 treatments, with many customers seeing complete results after 10-12 treatments.
Are There Any Side Effects?
When using the IPL as per the instructions, side effects are relatively mild. Some customers experience redness and swelling which will reduce rapidly after treatment. Applying a cool ice pack will also assist.
I have PCOS, Is This Okay for Me To Use?
IPL can certainly be used on hormonal hair growth, and has been seen to be quite effective as a treatment.
I Have Epilepsy, Is IPL Okay For Me To Use?
Due to the bright flashing light of IPL, unfortunately it is not suitable for you to use.
I Noticed A Slight Darkening In The IPL Light, Is That Okay?
Due to the intense light produced, there is also some heat generated which may cause the light to blacken slightly. This is normal and the unit's performance will not be affected by this.
There's A Slight Burning Smell?
This is completely normal and usually occurs when there is still some hair that hasn't been shaved. It's important to thoroughly prepare the area before starting the IPL treatment as per the instructions.
How Often Should I Clean the Handset?
We recommend cleaning after each use to ensure it lasts a long time and performance is not affected. Ensure it is powered off before cleaning with alcohol wipes/antibacterial product and then storing in a cool, dry place.
What Age Is the IPL Suitable For?
These devices are not suitable for people under 16 years old.
Do I Need Eye Protection When Using?
As the unit will only work when fully pressed against the skin, the light should not affect your eyes so doesn't require eye protection. Please ensure you do not look into the light as it flashes.
Do I Need To Shave Before Using The IPL?
Yes, we recommend you shave the areas prior to treating, ensuring no hair remains. As the IPL works by targeting the hair follicle, it's important that you only shave (Do not wax/pluck the area, as this will reduce the effectiveness of the IPL).
Which Hair Removal Methods Can I Use Between IPL Sessions?
Between IPL treatments, we recommend only shaving if necessary. Any waxing/plucking will remove the hair follicle and limit the effectiveness of your IPL treatments.
Are There Additional Costs or Fees?
No, with your purchase of PoshSkinCo's IPL handset, you have everything required, with no need for replacements or refills.
Does IPL Work For All Skin Tones?
IPL is suitable for all skin types, except for very dark skin. This is due to the way IPL works, it targets the melanin in the hair follicles, however with very dark skin it can affect the pigment in the skin.
Does IPL Work On All Hair Colours?
IPL works by targeting the melanin in the hair follicles, which means it is less effective on very light blonde, red or grey coloured hair.
Can I Use IPL While Pregnant Or Breastfeeding?
We always recommend seeking advice from a medical professional. While there is currently no evidence of IPL having negative effects for pregnant & breastfeeding women, as a precaution we do not recommend using the handset.
Can I Use IPL Over Freckles/Moles?
While light freckles are okay, you should avoid very dark freckles/moles.
Can I IPL Over Tattoos?
You should not IPL over tattoos as the light will be attracted to the darker pigment in the skin and may cause irritation and blistering and can damage the tattoo.
How Is The Handset Powered?
Our handsets are not cordless and need to be plugged into the power supply at all times to ensure maximum effectiveness.
Does IPL Remove Hair Permanently?
While it's semi-permanent, all IPL treatments will require maintenance over time as the hair generally will start growing back. After the initial 12 week treatment, most users only need to use the handset every 2-3 months to maintain!
Can I Share The Handset With Someone Else?
Yes you can share the unit, however we do recommend using your own to ensure you maintain the setting and cleanliness of your own handset. We offer very generous discounts when buying multiple units, see our latest offer when going through the checkout!
